Introduction
There are multiple options to consider when setting up a membership. You can offer unlimited tickets, free concession items, birthday perks, reward points and more. You must always start with a free, basic ‘Default’ membership as a fallback should a movie-goer ever want to cancel their paid membership.
Configure your Membership Settings
The first step is setting up your Membership settings in Settings→Circuit Configuration→Membership. You can select whether you allow monthly, quarterly, biannual and/or annual memberships. If you want membership rates to be calculated annually, select ‘Yearly’ under ‘Displayed Rate Period’. If you want them to be calculated/displayed monthly, select ‘Monthly’. You can also select if you want to offer a discount when taking out a longer term membership upfront for example, a standard monthly membership may be £20 per month but if you pay 12 months upfront, you could set it up to receive an Annual Discount Percent of 20%, taking the annual cost to £192 as opposed to £240.
Create a New Membership
Once you’re happy with your configurations, go to Settings→Promotions→Membership Types. Click ‘Add Membership Type’ in the top right hand corner.
Name your membership and enable or disable the appropriate boxes.
Create prices. Click ‘Add Membership User Type’ and select all users that this membership will apply to. This is useful when creating memberships such as student or senior membership where you can just select those user classes.
Once all users classes are added, you can create the price for each. Additional rate would be the rate of adding another member onto your account. You can make this a reduced rate as an incentive to sign up another user. If you don’t want it to be discounted, make this the same rate as the Yearly (or monthly) rate.
Benefits
Tiers
You can add different membership tiers so that users can get additional perks the longer they have or more frequently they use their membership. You will need to have a standard/default tier setup with no benefits as the control in order to add tiers. The tier benefits will tie in with vouchers and discounts as the Condition ‘Tier’ can be added in order for the user to obtain the relevant reward.
When setting up a branch of a tier, you can select several conditions. The example below requires the user to have Visited the cinema 4 times, purchased a minimum of 8 tickets and for 4 separate movies in order to achieve this level on the tier.
Points
Points are another way of enhancing memberships. You can select various different ways for your customers to earn points including per visit, per ticket and per item purchased. You can also set it up so that users achieve more points on their birthday or on specific custom days of the year.
The example below shows the membership has standard points setup to earn 50 points per visit and item purchased but 100 for every ticket purchased. If they visit on their birthday, they can receive double points that never expire.
Vouchers
Click ‘Add Voucher’ and select one of the vouchers you have setup that you want to apply to this membership. You can Limit how many times the discount is used by toggling on ‘Assign Voucher/Limit Redemptions’. You can also set how many times those redemptions renew e.g. If you want the user to be able to use the discount 4 times a year, set it to ‘Limit Redemptions: 4, Renews Every: 1, Renewal Term: Years.
Vouchers differ to Discounts in that if you have multiple users on one membership, you can assign which member (or all members) receive the voucher. When setting up ‘Limit Redemptions’, you can select, ‘Grant to’: Individual, Owner, Each Member Once or All Members.
You can add conditions to restrict the discount on Days of the Week, Birthday, Custom Date, Tiers and more.
Discounts
Click ‘Add Discount’ and select one of the discounts you have setup that you want to apply to this membership. You can Limit how many times the discount is used by toggling on ‘Limit Redemptions’. You can also set how many times those redemptions renew e.g. If you want the user to be able to use the discount 4 times a year, set it to ‘Limit Redemptions: 4, Renews Every: 1, Renewal Term: Years.
You can add conditions to restrict the discount on Days of the Week, Birthday, Custom Date, Tiers and more.
N.B. Conditions: Longevity allows you receive a discount after a set time. The example below is setup to grant a voucher after a period of 11 months.
Terms
If you want to override the terms for a particular membership, you can do this at the bottom of the Create/Edit Membership Type Page. Toggle on ‘Override Circuit’, tick what box you would like the discount to apply to and insert the percentage terms.
