Introduction
Discounts can be used to provide customers with offers and savings. They can be added to memberships to provide perks and are best suited for unlimited ticket memberships.
Creating a Discount
In Indy Admin, navigate to Discounts by going to Settings→Promotions→Discounts.
Click ‘Add Discount’ in the top right hand corner.
Name the Discount. Something in keeping with what you are offering will be great e.g. 10% off Popcorn.
Under ‘Type’, select what kind of Discount you wish to use. -Ticket: A cinema ticket for admission to a film -Item: A concession or merch item e.g. popcorn or souvenir cup -Membership Interval: A membership of a select value e.g. One year membership -Gift Card: Cinema gift card which can be used for anything in the cinema -Voucher Purchase: A voucher that is on sale for example a voucher for a membership
If you want to name the voucher something else, you can toggle this on and put in the new ‘Display Name’.
Description can be used if you want to add extra info about the discount or the membership it’s associated with. This can be helpful if you’ve got several similar discounts.
If you want everybody to benefit from a particular discount, for example, a Black Friday offer, you can toggle this on.
If you want the discount to be available online, you can toggle ‘Available Online By Code’ and create a Promo Code, inserting this into the Online Redemption Code box. N.B. If you have enabled ‘Available on all Orders’, this toggle will display, ‘Available Online’ and no promo code will be required.
If you want to limit how many times the discount can be used per showing, toggle, ‘Limit Redemptions Per Showing’. You can then set the number to how many uses you will permit per showing. This is useful if you were creating an Unlimited Membership and didn’t want people to buy multiple tickets for one showing.
You can also ‘Limit Overlapping Showings’ which would stop you being able to use your discount for a showing at say 8pm and 8.30pm. This would again be beneficial for unlimited members to prevent them buying tickets for multiple people who were perhaps seeing different films.
‘Limit redemptions per order’ can be used to limit how many times the discount is used in a transaction. Once toggled, the number of redemptions can be added into the ‘Redemptions Per Order’ box.
Under ‘Value’ the ‘Type’ can be changed to suit your needs or preferences. -Percent: This will be an overall percentage of whatever it is you are discounting e.g. 10% off popcorn, 50% off a ticket etc. -Fixed Amount: This would be how much you want to take off the order e.g. Type is Fixed amount, Gross Amount is 1, you will receive £1 or $1 off whatever it is you are discounting. -Target Amount: This will make whatever it is you are discounting a set value for example, a ticket is usually $15, and you set the target amount to $10, this will discount the ticket to $10.
Restrictions
N.B. Restrictions are applied sequentially. Specifics override general, e.g. a showing will override a movie
Matching Showings will show everything that the discount currently applies to. You can remove these by clicking the ‘X’ or we can add in more restrictions.
Under ‘Ticket Types to Include’ we can select all the Ticket Types we would like the discount to apply to. Equally, we can toggle on ‘Exclude’ and list ticket types we don’t want to include. This would be used if we had, for example, a regular membership discount which wasn’t permitted to be used on certain ticket types e.g. The Taylor Swift Concert where we had setup an exclusive ticket type.
‘Title Classes to Include’ is where we can specify what kind of film we would use this discount for. Equally, we can toggle on ‘Exclude’ if we would like to exclude film types. This would be beneficial where you don’t want to include things like Event Cinema or Concerts. These are usually priced higher and are often excluded from discounts and promotions.
‘Movies to include’ if where we can specify particular films that the discount would be used for. This would be useful if we wanted to do a discount exclusively for a particular movie e.g. Barbie Movie Promo. You can also toggle on ‘Exclude’ again if you wish to exclude particular films.
If your discount is restricted to particular dates, you can add a start and end date.
If you wish to narrow down the discount to a particular showing for example, only the first showing of Barbie was to be discounted as a special promo, you can list this under ‘Showings to Include’. You can also Exclude showings if you were wanting to exclude particular showings.
Under ‘Other Conditions’ you can add more restrictions or exemptions: -Day of the Week: You can only use this discount on a select day of the week -Time of the Day: You can only use this discount at a specific time of the day. -Custom Dates: You can only use this discount on the dates specified` -Exclude Dates: Your discount will NOT be redeemable on these dates
If you toggle on ‘Limit by Quantity’, you can then select if you want the discount to apply to All Items or just the Last Item Added. You then have another 3 options: -Showing: Limit how many different showings they have to add before the discount kick in -Movie: Limit how many different films they have to add before the discount kicks in -Ticket: Limit how many tickets are required before the discount kicks in.
These options would be useful if you wanted to setup a discount where you bought 3 tickets and got the 4th one discounted or if you wanted to offer, ‘Save £2 off every ticket when you buy 4 tickets’.
Once you are happy with your configuration, you can Push Configuration changes (green arrow in ribbon bar) to publish it.
