Introduction
To configure webpage navigations on INDY consumer websites, navigate to the Navigations section in the admin settings. Here, you can add or modify navigations, including their titles, categories, display locations, and linked pages. Categories allow for the creation of dropdown menus with multiple navigations, while the Custom URL feature enables linking to external sites or specific pages in the checkout flow or membership page.
What Navigations Do
Navigations are integrated site links to internal or external pages. These are located in the page header, side menu, footer and mobile footer.
How to add or modify navigations
Navigate to Settings > Website and Marketing > Navigations in INDY admin
Here you can see a list of existing navigations and can add new navigations
Click “Create Navigation” or “Edit” on a navigation that you would want to add.
The pictured modal will pop up
Title is the name of the navigation that you want to appear on the page
Category allows you to create dropdown menus that have multiple navigations inside (more on this below)
The “show in” checkboxes allow you to select where the navigations will be displayed.
Mobile Navigation is for placing navigations on the bottom bar of the mobile website as well as the Android and iOS apps
Navigate to page box is where you select which webpage the navigation will link to
Custom URL allows you to link to external sites or select pages in the checkout flow or membership page.
Category
As stated above categories allow you to create dropdown menus that contain multiple navigations inside.
To add navigations to a category:
Create a navigation that you want to have in the category
in the category type the text that you want as the category name
Press the enter key to create the category
Do this for each navigation that you would like in this category
Custom URLs
Custom URL allows you to link to external sites or select pages in the checkout flow or membership page. Notes on creating one:
If you are adding a link to an external URL make sure to add the http:// or https:// to the beginning of the URL
If it is a link to a page being hosted on this site, for example the membership Sign Up page. You want to make sure it starts with the / then the name of the page (e.g. /register)
Sometimes the custom URL does not want to save when closing the modal. In this case I have found that if you uncheck the custom URL toggle and select a regular page, then check the custom URL toggle and enter your URL, it will then save properly.
