Introduction
In this article we go through the steps you need to take in order to setup a new Stripe reader for use with INDY POS.
Materials Needed
Unbox the reader. The box contains:
1 WisePOS E reader
1 battery
1 USB power cable (you will have been supplied with a USB plug adapter to allow this to be plugged into a wall socket)
If you are networking the reader, you will also mount the reader in a cradle (see image below). A cradle comes with its own unique power cable, which should be used instead of the one supplied with the reader.

Instructions
Remove the back on the reader, and insert the battery. Replace the cover on the reader.
Turn the reader on with the power button on the right side of the reader. Follow any setup steps like language selection, country etc.
When prompted, connect the reader to the WiFi.
Let the reader download updates and leave it running DO NOT POWER OFF at this point
When the reader is done installing updates, it will generate a three word pairing code (e.g. boat-lock-goat). Follow the steps in this video to add the reader to your INDY Stripe Account (please note: that you should always name the reader to exactly match the register station you wish to connect to):
Once connected, the reader will then display your cinema’s logo.
If you are using Ethernet cradles (if not, skip to PAIRING), unbox the cradle. The box will contain: 1 cradle, 1 power cable.
The cradle needs power, you will have a USB plug adapter to allow you to connect the cradle to the mains.
Plug an Ethernet cable into the cradle that is connected to an active Ethernet port at the other end.
Hold down the power button on the right hand side of the reader and select restart.
When the reader powers back up in the top right hand side you should see this symbol <->
If the symbol is present, the reader is now networked, and will pair with INDY. (side note, you may want to use electrical tape to secure the reader more firmly in the cradle).
If that isn’t the case contact your Implementation Expert.
With the symbol present, open INDY POS on your Register, and select the corresponding Register station for the reader and the connection should automatically establish. You can check this by clicking the “ i “ icon in the bottom left of the POS, it will show the connection status.
Sometimes you may need to force the first connection. You can do this by clicking the hamburger menu icon in the bottom left of the POS, and clicking on “Set Chip Reader”. Select the correct reader and the connection should be established.
PAIRING
On some occasions, we may need to use Domain Name System records (DNS) to pair the reader. Please give your Implementation Expert access to your POS station via TeamViewer if you need support.
Follow the next few steps to add DNS settings on your Stripe reader.
On the Stripe reader home screen swipe left to right.
Select settings.
Type in the pin 07139.
Go to network, and select the WiFi network the reader is connected to (you may need to reenter the WiFi password).
In the network settings scroll to the bottom of the page, and select “Recommended”.
You should see the settings: Server 1 - 1.1.1.1 | Server 2 - 1.0.0.1
In the top right of the page click save.
Exit settings and refresh app and data on the POS.
Next, you will need to add DNS settings on the Windows device you wish to connect to, using the following steps:
Refresh App and Data on the POS a second time. The reader should now establish a connection to INDY POS.
If it doesn’t work on a first pass, try the step of forcing the connection outlined above using the "Set Chip Reader" option in the bottom left corner menu on the POS.
