Materials Needed
Raspberry Pi with INDY software on it (referred to as “Source Pi”)
New Raspberry Pi (referred to as “Destination Pi”)
Blank Micro SD card 16GB or larger
USB Micro SD Card adapter
Ethernet network connection
Access in INDY admin to the Pi with the INDY software installed
Power cables for the Pis
Instructions
Insert the microSD card into the USB card adapter, then plug that into the source Pi
Connect the source pi to the internet and power on
Navigate to “Remote Hardware” in INDY admin through the settings menu
Select the appropriate Pi in the list of remote hardware. Then click the “Clone SDS” button at the bottom of the window
Wait approximately 15 minutes for the card to be cloned to the blank SD card. If your MicroSD card adapter has an activity light wait until that stops flashing.
Remove the USB microSD card adapter from the source pi and remove the microSD card
Insert the newly created microSD card into the destination pi
Connect the destination pi to the internet and power, then turn on. (you can optionally connect the video cable to HDMI 0 to a display to verify it booting into the OS)
Refresh the unassigned hardware section of the remote hardware page in INDY admin
The new Pi should show up here to be assigned to the location.
Once the Pi has been assigned you can configure it to the proper hardware type and settings.
