We've made several enhancements to the donation and tipping feature based on feedback. These improvements enhance the user experience (UX), customization options, and overall functionality.
1. Improved UI for Checkout Flow
New UI refinements for both mobile and desktop versions.
Support for light mode and dark mode to match different themes.
Better alignment of UI elements for a more polished look.
π Upcoming: Additional alignment improvements will be made based on further testing.
2. Custom Titles & Descriptions for Donations
Cinemas can now set custom donation titles and descriptions.
If a custom title is added, it will replace the default header in the donation section.
Custom descriptions allow cinemas to include a more personalized call-to-action for donations and tips.
Previously, descriptions were only visible via hover-over icons. Now, they are more prominently displayed in mobile and web views.
How to Hide the Description
If a cinema prefers a cleaner look, they can simply remove the description, and it will not be displayed.
3. Improved Custom Tip & Donation Amount Handling
Custom Amount Format
Regardless of whether the tip/donation is in percentage or fixed amount, the custom field always uses a dollar amount.
This ensures a more intuitive experience, as customers typically think in terms of actual amounts rather than percentages.
New Clear Button
A clear (β) button allows users to easily reset any custom or pre-selected tip/donation amounts before completing their payment.
4. Updated Tipping UI Logic
Changes to the "None" Option
Previously: A "Show None" button was available.
Now: Instead of a separate "None" button, the custom field is automatically set to zero if no tip is selected.
Default Tip Selection
If a cinema enables pre-selected tipping, the default tip (as set in the admin panel) will be automatically applied at checkout.
If no pre-selection is enabled, the tip amount starts at zero by default.
The same logic applies to donations.
5. Dynamic Switching Between Percentage & Fixed Amount
Users can now seamlessly switch between percentage-based and fixed-amount donations.
The system follows these rules:
If the total is less than $10/Β£10, the system defaults to a fixed amount.
If the total is greater than $10/Β£10, it defaults to a percentage-based tip/donation.
This dynamic logic ensures a more user-friendly experience.
6. Enhanced Default Donation & Tip Selection
Admins can set default donation/tip amounts based on customer preferences.
The first selected option will be used as the default value.
Admins can also control which three amounts are displayed first on mobile vs. desktop.
Example: Setting Default Donations
Select $20 as the first default donation amount.
Choose additional options like $10, $30, and $50 for mobile display.
When a customer reaches checkout, the first amount in the list is pre-selected.
7. Customization Options for Donation Widget
The donation widget now includes:
β
Customizable Titles & Descriptions β Cinemas can rename the donation section and include a call-to-action.
β
Full-Width vs. Standard Mode β Allows for different layouts.
β
Custom Background Colors β Cinemas can set dark mode, light mode, or transparent backgrounds.
β
Adjustable Heading & Button Colors β Ensures seamless integration with branding.
β
Shadow & Border Controls β Cinemas can remove shadows or round corners for a clean design.
Automatic Dark/Light Mode Switching
The widget automatically switches between dark and light mode based on the background color chosen.
The font color updates automatically, with only the heading color requiring manual adjustment if needed.
8. Summary of Key Enhancements
